mmmm cell phone companies are tracking people’s location data and releasing it to the government and newspapers to see how much people are moving around. borders are being strengthened and the united states has just declared that it’s no longer issuing passports except in emergencies. my job is using work from home as an excuse to make employees account for every second of our time. police are stopping people demanding to know why they’re out and issuing fines if that reason isn’t sufficient to them

we have a chance to build a better world out of this pandemic as the working class learns just how essential it is, but there’s also a chance we come out of this more heavily surveyed and policed than ever. people should absolutely be staying home, but be wary of how those safety measures are being enforced

All US public schools should receive the same funding based on the amount of enrolled students

All property taxes that would initially go to the local school district should be nationally divided between all US public schools.

If previously wealthy school districts funding needs aren’t being met, the education budget should be nationally increased, to provide the same public school education for all children in attendance.

Low test scores should never decrease funding. 

Schools should not receive funding based on the success of their students.

Schools with high rates of failure should receive special attention to bring them back up to par with the rest of the public education system.

All students should have safe and reliable transportation to their public school if they cannot make the walk to school due to disability or distance.

All students should receive a free lunch and breakfast if they want it while at school. These meals should meet the nutritional needs of the students.

A public school should never rent out equipment, musical instruments, supplies, etc.

Students should never pay for things the school already owns.

If a public school demands its students wear uniforms then the school should buy the uniforms for their students.

If a public school demands certain supplies the public school should provide said supplies to all students.

It doesn’t make sense to DECREASE funding for schools that need it most. I mean put more funding for resources, field trips, labs and equipment would help teachers to find the right way to teach the students that need it more.

A school with high scores is already succeeding with the funds they have. Why add more?

not 2 exaggerate but the good place’s thesis of “if the modern pressures of life were removed, we would inherently seek out opportunities to learn and become better and kinder people” is a more interesting and valuable thing to say about society than anything that’s ever been said about cell phones
